VAN LIFE CLEANING HACKS

Updated: Jun 2, 2023

Keeping Your Home on Wheels Sparkling Clean!

As van lifers, we know that maintaining cleanliness in our tiny home on wheels is key to a happy and healthy living space. Here are some tips and tricks we've learned along the way to keep our van looking tidy and fresh.

Clean up after yourself - always! One of the best hacks is to clean up right away. When you avoid doing dishes, they can quickly pile up and become a real chore to clean later. So, tackle those dirty dishes as soon as you're done with them. Trust us, it's much easier to clean a plate with fresh food than to scrub off dried-on leftovers.

Wet wipes/baby wipes are a van life essential! They're perfect for wiping down countertops, cleaning up spills, and tackling not-too-dirty dishes. Having a pack of wet wipes handy makes quick clean-ups a breeze.

Invest in a dustpan and brush. Sand and dirt have a way of finding their way into your van, especially if you're parked by the beach. Use a dustpan and brush to sweep the floors, dust the benches and cupboards, and even your bed. Keeping the sand at bay will help you maintain a clean and cozy living space.

Take care of your wall paint. If you have light-colored walls in your van, it's important to protect them. We recommend using Jiff or Gumption once a week to remove marks and footprints from the walls and cupboards. This simple step can save you from having to repaint your walls down the road.

Make cleaning a daily routine. To keep your van looking nice and schmick, it's important to make cleaning a part of your daily routine. Clean up after meals, sweep the floors at least twice a day, and do a thorough wall clean once a week. Trust us, a little bit of daily cleaning goes a long way in maintaining a tidy van.
